In a stunning and rapid development over the course of only days, the Jenlomian city of Colston in the province of Padingham has been brutally burned by a previously unknown terrorist cell who calls itself the Violetist Avengers, led by a man who calls himself Malum Vocamini. In a plan developed over months of planning and execution, incendiary grenades smuggled into the country were placed in abandoned houses, buildings, and lots around key points in the city. On the day of attack, the devices were detonated remotely, causing dozens of buildings around the city to leap ablaze simultaneously. The Colston fire service was left undermanned and outmatched by the raging fire, which ate up large tracts of the city before either burning itself out a the city limits or reaching a hastily constructed fire break created by the brave souls of Colston. Despite this minor victory, the city lies in a state of disarray with hundreds confirmed dead and even more missing. The Jenlomian government has not yet released a statement on how it intends to deal with its city in ruins and perpetrator on the loose.
Moments after the attack, a video created by the Violetist Avengers was sent to every major news source in Jenlom, and promptly was aired first throughout the country and quickly throughout the region. In it, Mr. Vocamini denounced the "corrupt capitalizt dogma that pervades every aspect of Jenlomian life and hollows the minds of its citizens". Claiming the attack as an attempt to draw attention to the subjugation of the working class within Jenlom, Mr. Vocamini adamantly declared that unless changes are made within Jenlom to free the people, the attacks will continue, increasing in severity and intensity. Citing the presence of many ex-Aurigans within the country, whom Mr. Vocamini calls, "my own people", the Violetist Avengers claim their ultimate goal is the reclamation of citizens lost to immigration who are "trapped within the outdated imperialist dogma which perpetuates the economic and social differences between immigrants and natives". The group, which originates in The United States of Auriga, is an ultranationalist group which the Aurigan government has remained silent on denouncing or supporting up to this point.
After overseeing the completion of his plan, Mr. Vocamini, along with several of his group, fled to Enderborn, seeking shelter in the country's relative small size and counting on its inability to adequately respond or organize a search. Additionally, it is rumored that the organization may have allies within the country and connections that allowed the group to disappear without a trace, as they seem to have done. The Enderborn government has not yet released a statement on its intentions regarding the terrorist it currently harbors.
In the days to follow, the region stands in shock as it's most economically powerful country and head of the Ministry of Justice reels from the damage it sustained during the attack. However, danger already brews in the tense economic situation that it sure to follow. Many questions have yet to be answered. Is military action inside Enderborn justified? How will Enderborn react to a possible forced intrusion on the part of Jenlom? What support will be offered from other nations during the crisis? Will the regional community come together with one voice on the issue, or will they be split by differing opinions on how to respond? No government has yet released a statement as to how it will proceed following the crisis, but a volatile diplomatic situation is sure to follow. The ErasmoGnome Times will, as always, keep you all informed with continuing update as the situation develops.
